Matt is a consultant neurologist at the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences. He is an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Manchester.
His clinical interests are general and acute neurology with sub-specialisation in cognitive neurology; he runs a tertiary clinic for early onset and atypical dementia taking referrals from throughout the North West of the England and beyond.
His teaching interests lie in both undergraduate and postgraduate education. He is associate programme director for teaching and learning at Manchester Medical School. He was previously Northwest Training Programme Director for Neurology postgraduate specialist training and chair of the Association of British Neurologist’s Education Committee.
His research interests are in the clinical, genetic and pathological classification of early onset and rarer dementia syndromes. He has also been Principal Investigator for a number of clinical trials in dementia and brain infection.
